Friends of the Ella Redkey Pool

The Friends of the Ella Redkey Pool is a non-profit organization which provides advocacy and support for the Ella Redkey Pool, with an emphasis on programs which increase water safety, improve health, and provide recreational opportunities for people of all ages.

What do the Friends do?

Our primary function is to subsidize needy children and young adults, and to assist the city and pool staff in fundraising for special projects that are not covered by City funding. We occasionally provide modest funding for pool accessories. We do not make decisions about the pool and its environs, and we don’t make decisions about how the pool is managed. The City and the pool staff have full responsibility for those things.

The Friends in 2025

  • donated $500 and sale merchandise for the Polar Plunge fundraiser

  • donated $100 to purchase Easter candy for the Aqua Egg Hunt

  • some members volunteered as instructors for Everyone Swims, a program for 3rd graders

  • assisted with fundraising for new pool covers

  • provided four $100 lifeguard training scholarships

  • provided five $30 swim lesson scholarships

  • painted the planters on the pool deck, and planted flowers in them
